The Best Time to Visit the Maldives (And When to Avoid It)

28 Jun 2026 · 5 min read · By Priya Nair

The Maldives sits close to the equator, so temperatures stay warm year-round, but timing still matters enormously for the experience you'll have. The dry season, roughly November to April, brings the calmest seas, the best visibility for diving and snorkelling, and the least humidity — this is peak season, and prices reflect it. The wet season, May to October, brings more rainfall and occasional storms, but also quieter resorts, lower rates, and some of the best surf breaks in the southern atolls. If whale shark or manta ray sightings are on your list, the southern atolls in July and August offer exceptional odds. Our consultants track resort-specific weather patterns, not just the broad seasonal averages, so we can steer you toward atolls that are having a good run even outside the classic dry season window.
